    The Mokokchung District Court first started functioning after shifting from Dimapur in the year 1976 with only one Court i.e. Chief Judicial Magistrate Court and with Shri R S Bedi as the Chief Judicial Magistrate and the Court staff consisted of one Peshkar and three Bench Assistant, there was one Assistant Public Prosecutor who was also holding the charge for the district of Mon, Tuensang, Zunheboto and Wokha and at that time there were 22 Criminal cases and 15 Civil cases pending trial and altogether 21 cases pending investigation. 17 cases were kept in abeyance on Govt. Order as they were likely to be withdrawn within one month time. At present the Mokokchung District Court is functioning with District & Sessions Judge, The Chief Judicial Magistrate and the Civil Judge (Junior) administer both Civil and Criminal Justice.
